In this project we were to look at the last 3 assignments we did and pick which was most important and how to the tie in together. I believe that all 3 areas have the same importance but if you were to pick one it would be turf characteristics.
The reason i picked this to be the biggest influence on playing conditions would be for many different reasons. The grass on a golf course needs to be perfect in all the different areas whether there your greens tee boxes fairways or rough. You need to know what grass is in those areas and what fertility is best used for it and even how much water should be used in those areas. I also think the type of grass you use on your course and how you keep it maintained an looking will bring in more members or out of town people who would have your course on there bucket list for perfect grass or whatever reason they had you on it for.
With that being said I think that is where all 3 of these characteristics would tie in together. You want to have the best turf on the best possible layout that golfers will enjoy. but you have to be willing to listen to your clientele and be willing to change the physical or turf characteristics if everyone was wanting the same changes ect.
I still would say that the turf characteristic is still the most important of the 3 because of how people always judge the turf on a golf course and how the golf course looks. However I dont think that theirs a certain sequence that these 3 things happen in, i think that it will be something that continues to change. For example if you have people 2 or 3 years in to you being a super saying that want certain holes to be more or less challenging and its something everyone is agreed to you might want to look at changing the land characteristics of the hole and depending how much you change you will be changing the turf as well.
I think all 3 of these are very important pieces you need to work together for success. With doing these different projects and tying together at the end I learned that not all golfers like the same thing and you have to willing to adapt and adjust on the fly to make it better for everyone.
